On a day with a glimmer of sunshine (at last),
I glimpsed a flash of lapis blue as last year's hyacinths begin to open (and felt glad they'd been reprieved from the bin).
I squeezed lemons into a bowl of pasta
And tore a bunch of green, peppery basil.
Poured a glass of cold wine
And settled down to a book
That evokes the colours and scents of Corfu.
A high-quality beach read is exactly right for grey days
Spent on the sofa
Instead of a deckchair.

Sue, this one is loosely - very loosely - based on Lawrence Durrell, but it's not much more than a woman's magazine-read with a literary gloss. I did try reading him many years ago but found him heavy going. Maybe I should try again with Prospero's Cell.
I'm definitely in the mood for blue seas and golden sands.

No, those two images of him don't really tally, do they? Though I think I read somewhere that Gerald took some artistic licence.

Oh, I've never had pasta like that before...it sounds delicious! Enjoy your book and any sun that comes your way, Mary.

What wonderful colours you describe! I'm so happy that today was another sunshiny day - spring seems to be in the air!

Hello Miranda, nice to see you back! Are we all coming out of hibernation?
