Too late, as it's happening tonight - but wouldn't you love to be sitting down to Virginia Woolf's famous boeuf en daube?
Even if that orchestrated conversation got a bit pretentious?
Unfortunately, it's sausages and scrambled eggs here this evening.
There are no insignificant suppers, only inadequate ways of looking at them.

After too much turkey this weekend for Thanksgiving it was beans on toast at ours tonight. Fit the bill perfectly! How's that for looking on the bright side?

You find the most interesting tidbits, Mary.

I did go to a School of Life philosophy breakfast, Darlene ... I must say, they put on a good spread! Although I do think it's a bit precious.
I think you Canadians have the right idea, enjoying turkey in October - before you have time to get fed up with it by Christmas.

I'm always a little squeamish about the phrase 'soft mass' - sounds disgusting. But, yes, I too would love to be sitting down to a To the Lighthouse dinner. Mind you, food in novels can be very risky. Do you remember the sardines pressed into ginger cake of Enid Blyton?

I'm sure it was delicious, Charlie, but I admit having reservations about 'yellow meat' ... it does sound rather like gobbets of fat.
And yes, those Malory Towers feasts .. they'd be repeating on you all night!
