I took my family on a walk around Spitalfields, one of my favourite parts of London.

My niece goes clubbing here every weekend, but she had never noticed these narrow Georgian streets where Huguenot silk-weavers lived.

However, she does know the names of all the graffiti artists.

I don't know that I'll ever be a huge fan of Banksy.
But I love the local wildlife.

Think of the salt beef bagels, Kristina.

Fournier Street? Lovely place, Spitalfields - thanks for evoking memories.

Hello, Minnie. Thanks for commenting. Yes, it's Fournier Street - I love this little corner, all those lovely fanlights and window shutters. You feel like you're walking through a film set.

Oh my goodness! Imagine stumbling across that giant squirrel after a night on the town!

My husband and I went on a Jack the Ripper tour and were in Spitalfields. It was dark and we were spooked so we didn't venture very far. We'll have to go back again...during the day!

Great picture. I have never liked the term "graffiti artist". I prefer "vandal", or "criminal". As for those who go legit after years of defacing property, they should have all their earnings subject to paying reparations for past damage. The last time we were in Switzerland and the Benelux countries we were astonished by all of the graffiti.

Having said all that, at least Banksy is more creative than those who tag things just to tag things. (Still not approving.)

Oh, Thomas ... I think they give a real buzz to the area. And, anyway, the owners often give permission.
Darlene, I remember going on a ghost walk in Edinburgh once and a man passed out. And that was before we got to the really spooky stuff.

Well if they have permission that is a whole different story.
