Could I call back in half an hour, said the person I rather urgently needed to talk to for work.
Do you think I could? When the new Persephone Biannually arrived only ten minutes ago and I've got a tin of homemade chocolate shortbread ...
I think I'll survive.
Now if only I had that new Elizabeth Jenkins novel, too ...
ReplyDeleteShe's a brilliant writer, Sue. Did you ever read The Tortoise and the Hare?
DeleteIsn't it a lovely cover? I want that dress and scarf.
ReplyDeleteAren't they fab! And did you notice the little dish of cakes, too?
DeleteI also want Chianti in a straw bottle cover.
ReplyDelete& I have mine with a Hendrick's G&T.
ReplyDeleteFunny to think of us all sitting here reading the same thing and making a treat of it, Joan.
DeleteWell I would like to wear a hat with a rather rakish red feather while eating cakes and drinking wine!
ReplyDeleteI woke up this morning and decided that I'm not going to buy any new books for a year. There are so many in the house still unread, however, having glanced through the Biannually I think that I may stop buying new books in a week's time!
I've curbed the book-buying, Jude - I'm not cured, but much improved. I was running out of space and buying far more than I could possibly read. Although I've got at least 20 library books out at the moment ...
ReplyDeleteMy copy arrived too, I have been looking at the cover taking in the whole scene especially the half concealed grin. I have two old Chianti bottles, perhaps I should display them with some cakes before reading the Biannually?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely should get in the mood, Toffeeapple.
DeleteOoh, that's me on mailbox watch!
ReplyDeleteGosh, that must be frustrating, Darlene ... maybe next week?
