I've been embracing Meals on Wheels, highly recommended if you're in an area covered by this brilliant idea. (That would be London/Manchester/Edinburgh and a handful of other cities.)
Rather than slipping and sliding to the shops, I had Polish hunters' stew and lemony polenta cake delivered to the door by a charming Polish chef for less than the cost of a greasy takeaway curry. And there's enough leftovers for tonight. (Well, not the polenta cake. I managed that in one.)
Delighted that for once you don't have to live in a swanky postcode to access decent takeaways. It's the first time that anything like this has penetrated as far as this unfashionable suburb.
Unsolicited review - just spreading the word - but I'm ready and willing to be a polenta cake ambassador should the opportunity arise.

The site says that it is coming to my area soon. I hope that Polenta cake will be on the menu, it sounds delicious.

It was, Toffeeapple. But it all depends on the chefs who live in your area. They all do their own thing. Where I live, it's Polish/Czech or Asian; in other areas it's more of a melting pot. I think it's a great idea - other people's home cooking!

In my part of the US Meals on Wheels are hot meals delivered to senior citizens at their homes. In case you needed to know that. You think you have limited delivery options in the suburbs, my only delivery option is the Amish neighbors who sell produce door to door occasionally. Don't get me started on the cultural advantages of living in a city. I live vicariously through you.

That was my feeble attempt at wit, Tabitha! Meals on wheels are for old ladies here as well.
I wouldn't swap living in a city but Amish deliveries sound rather wonderful.

I've found a Spanish chef. May well give him a try. Thanks.

Some of the Spanish ones look delicious. Lucille. None near me, alas.
They sent me a recommend a friend/moneyoff voucher thing last night, so I've sent you one in case you try it.

Thank you!. A little disappointed to see a rather short menu from the one serving our area and not particularly Spanish but worth a try.
