Taking a short cut through King's College yesterday on the last day of London Fashion Week, I found myself on the river terrace on a glorious spring afternoon and I stopped to enjoy the London skyline and the river traffic and even the traffic noise down below and listened to somebody's piano practice coming out of an open window.
And then of all the wonderful things there are to do in London on a sunny afternoon when you've finished work at 4pm ...
I went shopping for shoes.
Bad choice.
My self-help bestseller is going to be called How To Become a Tired, Grumpy Person without Even Trying.
I have so enjoyed catching up here, I loved the William Trevor post (a favourite author of mine) and Scott and Kathleen - I heard about their letters on the radio recently.
ReplyDeleteHope you are not tired and grumpy today :-)
Thanks, Cait- glad you enjoyed reading! I'm not at all grumpy today! I'm never fond of shopping but felt the urge thanks to envy of friend's sandals last year and a 20% discount voucher that expires this week. All in vain as the pair I had my eye turned out to be uncomfortable. But as the girl in the shop said, at least you've got them out of your system!
ReplyDeleteOh the excuses I can come up with to avoid shopping! I'm with you, Mary, it makes me grumpy too.
ReplyDeleteThe vignette of London did me wonders though as I sit here contemplating the garb I have to don before taking the dog out for a walk. This winter has been brutal!
It's bitter again today, Darlene. (Well, maybe not by your standards but we're winter wimps!) But I've just walked up the road and seen the first blossom on the trees.
ReplyDeleteNow I would love shoe shopping, but can't go, because I always buy three pairs and my budget won't allow it until May!
ReplyDeleteThe signs of spring are wonderful, though it's freezing and grey again today.

I've a couple of makes that I can order online of shoes and even if they're not very pretty and frankly oozing practicality rather than sophistication, I absolutely love that I never have to shop for shoes again angle! Crocuses all over here and the earliest camelia out in the garden here. Yay for spring!
