At long last ... London has exploded into spring and I see I'm not the only one who noticed today that the magnolias are out in abundance and the cherryblossom is bobbing.
But when did it happen ...?
I've had my head down all weekend, not exactly working, but grouching about having to work. (It all got done in the end but I am living proof of Parkinson's Law.)
So this afternoon I thought I deserved a couple of hours off to enjoy coffee and cake at Petersham Nurseries, sitting in the balmy sunshine, swooning over the scent of jasmine and lemon blossom and looking in wonder at pot shrubs laden with tiny oranges.
In the city where I turned the central heating off only two days ago.
According to the man at the counter, it all went - boom - on Friday afternoon.
Just like that.

Just got in from my morning walk with Deacon. It's 3C but there it was...a tiny white half of an eggshell, lying on the curb. Always a sign that Spring has arrived although how those naked chicks survive these temperatures I have no idea.

Would have loved to be along with you on your day out, Mary!

Oops...should have said 'Would have loved to have been along with you...'

It's too early and I am too daft.

It didn't last long, Darlene. Today is much greyer ... but I'm just about to venture out and see what it feels like.

Well Mary, the magnolias are stunning, particularly in this neck of the woods, Jane is right.
But what I really want to know, why didn't you invite me to join you? I am only up the road you know! Cake and tea at the Nursery is far preferable to the ironing basket... Please remember in future!

Jude, that would have been lovely. I got there very late, though - almost all the cake was gone!
It seemed too lovely a day to waste on housework.
