Victorian London - Bill Nighy - and George Gissing as a murder suspect ... count me in! There's a trailer here. From a Peter Ackroyd novel published in the 90s, which I've never read.
I think the Peter Ackroyd novel is Dan Leno and the Limehouse Golem. I have read it and can't imagine how it has been adapted for the screen. Although I admire Ackroyd on the whole, I didn't like that book at all.
Yes. that's the book, Callmemadam. I don't think I've read any Ackroyd since Hawksmoor/Chatterton. This caught my eye because ... well, how often does Gissing get a name-check in a movie! And I have a soft spot for Bill Nighy.
