Ladies, you will see many glowing reviews of this film (starring Tilda Swinton and her daughter). But I will tell you the truth. It is two hours of unutterably pretentious tedium and I would have walked out except I was stuck in the middle of a row and didn't like to disturb people.
So why did I go???
Well, you know when there's several screens, and you're a bit on the last minute and there was a queue at the bar, and it was Screen 1 wasn't it??? And you're kind of bemused to find Screen 1 (or was it 2?) packed to capacity and the woman beside you says there was a waiting list for tickets ... and the penny is just beginning to drop when it starts and you think, oh well, sounds like it must be good if all these other people are so keen to see it ... Ladies, I am a dope, I went to the wrong bloody film!

Oh bugger! What a waste of money and time....

Never mind, Mary you still have the 'right' one to look forward too!

Oh, well - a few weeks ago a friend went to see the wrong film in the wrong cinema - having blagged her way in saying I must be waiting for her inside! Well, I was waiting - at another cinema down the road. I wouldn't mind, but the film she saw sounded much better! Her dippy old lady act is even better than mine!

I must cultivate the dippy old lady act - seems that one of you gets results!

What was the other film?

I went to the wrong film last week and don’t want to make the same mistake again.
It was Five Seasons for the record and it might not have been so bad but the volume was cruelly, painfully high. This was supposed to be elegiac but the piano accompaniment was shrill, even Piet turning paper sheets over had me wincing and I felt terribly sorry for him having traffic roaring past Hummelo every few seconds. But not as sorry as I felt for myself.
I made a huge effort to get there on time and raced up several flights of escalators at the Picture House only to have to endure 25 minutes of adverts. All in all a totally wasted afternoon.

The other film was Aniara, Lucille - I wasn't hugely bothered about seeing it, so never mind.
What a shame about Five Seasons ... you'd think it would be restful! I went to Hauser & Wirth a while back, not long after it opened.

I had a role model for dippy old lady in an elderly aunt, Toffeeapple - we were never sure if she was quite as batty as she seemed or rather clever ... people would just wilt under the onslaught!
