I've had this on the shelf for ages, seven whole years, rationing myself because I like to know that I have a 'new' Elizabeth Taylor to look forward to. (And yes, I'm impressed by my self-restraint!)
Oh, those old green Viragos with their beautiful covers ... this is Manet, and I was so thrilled when I spotted the dragon on the glass vase, I'd thought it was a rose stem.
And the bliss of Elizabeth Taylor ...

Do you listen to the Backlisted podcast, Mary? They reviewed The Soul of Kindness by Taylor recently and Carmen Callil was a guest. She made a very thinly veiled dig at Nicola Beauman's biography on Taylor, which I so happened to enjoy.
I enjoyed it too, Darlene- though I remember thinking she could have pressed one interviewee a bit harder. I remember Elizabeth Jane Howard a few years ago at a library event coming down hard on the biography and seeming to think that it was a cheek to ask any questions at all!
I must go and find that podcast - I keep forgetting it's there.
Not heard of this one; I'll keep my eyes open. I've found all my Elizabeth Taylor's as green Viragos in charity shops, so far!
