Last time I read an Angela Thirkell, my verdict was 'okay once in a while if you want something soporific.'
And I'm standing by that - the best thing about this one was the title.

  1. Well, it would be nice if cheerfulness did break in, wouldn't it? Sigh.

Your Simnel cake looks delicious! You've made me hungry now.

  2. Sadly, no Simnel cake this year, Pam - it didn't seem a great idea to make one whe there's ony me to eat it! Especially as I've lost a COVID-diet half-stone and am very pleased with myself!
Quite cheerful here - but the days do feel samey! I look forward to shopping days with great excitement.

  4. Yes, I feel a bit 'never again' at the moment, Toffeeapple. She hasn't stood the test of time at all well.
Not sure about the weight loss today - there's a cherry cake in the oven! But nobody has distanced-delivered an Easter egg to me, so maybe it balances out.

  5. I have two on my shelf still waiting to be read - sounds like it might be ideal 'lockdown' reading!

  6. This one was fairly dreary, Vronni - but I'm certainly not reading anything terribly challenging at the moment. Hope you're well.
