I'd make a hopeless ballet critic.
Because I love it so much, I'm simply very sad when it's all over.
Until next time.
Before setting out this evening,
I pulled out my collection of shiny red ballet programmes from the
Royal Opera House.
And thought about dozens of lovely evenings I've enjoyed over the years, and felt sad that some wonderful dancers are now retired.
Tonight's Cinderella wasn't as memorable as Sylvie Guillem a decade ago. But I gazed very hard at the fairy who is billed as the Next Big Star and thought how magical it must be to be 22 and on the brink of stardom.

My husband is always reminding me that nothing stays the same forever. Sometimes that is a good thing and sometimes it's bad.

We saw the movie, The Black Swan, last night. Frightening and fantastic all rolled into one.

I'll have to go and see that, Darlene ... but the one I really want to see is The King's Speech.

The King's Speech was absolutely wonderful, you'll really enjoy it, Mary. I am already picturing the DVD on my shelf!

I saw Sylvie Guillem's debut in this country. I think it was around 1988 and she danced Swan Lake. I love the dancers of her generation - Darcy Bussell and Deborah Bull, but I think she is the finest.

How wonderful, Nicola, I never saw her dance Swan Lake. I remember seeing Sylvie Guillem and Darcey Bussell both dancing Manon in the same week, and was fascinated seeing how different they were when the performances were still so fresh in my mind. Both so wonderful, but Sylvie Guillem will always be favourite! Sadly, I don't often get the chance to see interpretations of the same role. I'd go every night if I could!
