Whew ...  almost finished.

Hard to believe that it is almost 40 years since I last read this.

There's so much that I had forgotten. So much that I remember almost by heart.

It was so well worth coming back to.

But I'm not going to write an essay about it now.

The BBC is my excuse for never reaching for a book by Dickens...well, other than A Christmas Carol once a year.

Do you have a favourite to suggest, Mary?

Oh, Darlene, where to start. Well, David Copperfield would be a good one to start with, or Great Expectations. I think my favourite is probably Bleak House. Only one I'm not so keen on is Pickwick, which was always my mum's favourite.
It took me years to return to Dickens after plodding through him at school. I don't think my 17yo self would believe it!
I'm looking forward to a trip to his house at Gads Hill next month. And tomorrow I'm going to see the wonderful Miriam Margolyse doing Dickens' Women.

Actually, Darlene, it struck me later that D Copperfield is partly set in Canterbury so you'd surely like that.
