Love of Winter, George Wesley Bellows, 1914 (Art Institute of Chicago)
There's some things I love about winter but not the slippery slush outside my window today. But there's lots of exhibitions I'm looking forward to in the next few weeks and by the time this painting arrives at the Royal Academy, I'll be ready for spring.

I am wishing that the snow leaves very quickly. It hasn't turned to slush yet but has been compressed into ice on the roads. I shall stay home until it fades.

I'm not tempted to go out, Toffeeapple. I went for a long walk on Thursday knowing that I wouldn't fancy going out once it got icy.

Was just looking at that in the Art Insitute the other day - do visit if you every come to Chicago. It is one of my favourite paintings.
Very mild for the midwest at the moment and no snow!
Lots of time for that to change though.

I'd love to visit Chicago, Lizzie, I've never been there. I'll have to hang on until March to see the painting!
