There is only one Maigret and that's the one my dad watched in black and white in the 1960s. I was supposed to be in bed but I remember the
theme tune so well that I must have been dragging my heels; if you were quiet, Dad forgot about you.
But I do think that
Rowan Atkinson is an inspired choice for a re-make.
Have just looked at the link and seen the trail for this new series - it looks like it will be good.

I've seen the first one and enjoyed it,Margaret.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised how French he looks, Sue.
ReplyDeleteI remember the original series and, having seen the clip, think that RA seems to fit the bill perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed that there wasn't more food, Toffeeapple - in the books Madame Maigret is always making delicious dinners! Maybe in episode 2.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I have vague memories from childhood of Rupert Davies as Maigret but also thought Michael Gambon rather good. I haven't seen Rowan Atkinson yet, but imagine he would make a pretty good job of it.
ReplyDeleteYes I'm enjoying this but will watch the rest tomorrow when less tired. RA has a very authentic look. Wonderful opening credits. I wonder where it was filmed.
ReplyDeleteI think it was Budapest, Lucille - looks more like Paris did then than Paris does now,if you follow me. Isn't there supposed to be a second episode? Not sure when that's on.
