There was chocolate cake here.
Maple syrup and parsnip cake (come on, you've got to try everything once) wasn't as good as it sounded and next time I'll stick to my favourite lemony polenta.
The courgette and lime cake in the garden here was memorably good.
Although pistachio and lemon cake at La Fromagerie is unarguably the best cake in town.
And you can't say that I haven't taken a wide sample.
Do you think I could take this up professionally?
Or offer conducted tours around
The calories of London?

I've been meaning to try High Tea of Highgate for ages. And now must try the cake at La Fromagerie too. Seems we're usually there for a tasting or event, and they never include cake!

And I think cake tours sound like an excellent idea. Can I sign up as a tour guide?!

Do you truly think you should? Better to cogitate for a while...

*eurgh* parsnips *shudder*

It was nicer than it sounds, Simon ... maybe not as good as their beetroot cake!

I should have put a nicer comment - like commending the use of lime; I love limes and they are neglected - but I loathe parsnips in any manifestation.

I don't think you should be forced to eat parsnip cake, Simon! We'll let you off...

I love limes too, but not in cakes (or sweet things in general). In savoury dishes or with my Vermouth or just for their own juice they are lovely.
