Somehow it didn't feel right to be buying a bunch of golden narcissi and a sheaf of pussy willow.
It felt like wishing my life away to be embracing spring
before I was finished with autumn,
When I still haven't rummaged in the drawer to find last year's gloves.
But how could I resist them
When they only cost £1,
Wrapped in crackly cellophane
And tied with green raffia
By the lady in the new flower shop.
I'm sure they put a spring in my step -
Especially as I'd only popped out for a pint of milk.

Now Mary, you have me in tears (not a good day today so no surprise).
I will admit to be a tad homesick...I loved to purchase flowers at the street corner and would readily prefer skipping a meal then not buying a few sprigs or some posey...
Time to reach for a cuppa!
Enjoy and blessings always,

How is the new secondhand bookshop shaping up for 'finds'?

I'm sorry you're having a bad day, Noelle - hope that cup of tea helped!

I think I got over-excited about the bookshop, Lucille. There's only one little corner-shelf of old books and they don't seem to rotate very fast. I bought an Angela Thirkell just to be encouraging, but I haven't spotted anything since.

I could not have resisted them either for £1; worth every penny I'd say...

That is beautiful, Mary. And I'm glad Lucille asked about the bookshop as I was wondering the same thing.

The bookshop held out such promise, what a disappointment.

The flowers and buds though, they must make up for it. I wouldn't be concerned about buying spring flowers at the moment since our seasons are confused anyway. I'm certain that you will enjoy them.

They're still lovely this morning, Cait. And the catkins are so lovely to stroke.
Darlene and Toffeeapple, I still think it's a nice little bookshop, and very friendly, but don't think it will prove to be an amazing source of out-of-print treasures.
