Self-Portrait, Vanessa Bell, c1915
I didn't go to many exhibitions this year but already 2017 is looking very promising. First up, there's Vanessa Bell ...

The lady with the umbrella, John Singer Sargent, 1911
Then Sargent's watercolours ...

Followed directly by the first UK retrospective of Tove Jansson. All three at Dulwich Picture Gallery before the end of the year. Happy New Year everybody.

Thank you for this heads up, Mary. I particularly like the sound of the Tove Janssen one!

Happy new year, Sue. I wish you'd stage a comeback - you're missed, especially when I run out of ideas for dinner!

Yes, that wil be interesting, Veronica - apart from Moomins, I don't know her work at all.

Happy New Year, Mary! Terrific line-up at Dulwich...it would be especially nice to see the Vanessa Bell exhibit but my trip over will probably be after June.
The turkey carcass is in the soup pot...slow simmer describes us all after days of too much of everything.

It's on until June 4, Darlene - so you might just make it! But there will be other things.
