At least autumn means something decent on TV! It's so long - decades - since I read The Singapore Grip that I honestly can't remember anything about it. I've only seen the first episode of the new ITV series but it's a great cast and hugely enjoyable so far. In fact, quite the best thing that's been on TV for ages.

Something decent to look forward to? I've loved all J G Farrell's novels but, like you, it was so long ago that I can't remember the details. Thanks for the heads up on this.

Yes, I loved Troubles - for some reason I remember the mad Irish hotel far more clearly - and the Major also features in Singapore Grip. Definitely one to look forward to, Callmemadam - I thought it might it might be a lean autumn if productions had been delayed owing to COVID but this is very lavish. I'm also enjoying Us with Tom Hollander who is quite heartbreaking contemplating the breakup of his marriage.
