I haven't been to a Nutcracker in years - I think I was Nutcrackered-out - but this jazzed-up performance at the toasty-warm and cosy
Tuff Nutt Jazz Club last night was great fun, brilliantly colourful and very inventive. So close to the dancers you can see their plastered toes and bunions - ouch!

Hmmm, did that not spoil the magic a bit? I can remember the first time I saw ballet live as a little girl and was disillusioned by the thumps of the blocked shoes on the stage. I thought ballet dancers floated!
It was more of a fun Nutcracker than a magical Nutcracaker, Pam. But I know what you mean about clunky shoes. I never noticed as a child as I guess we were always high up in the cheap seats. But the first time I saw the Bolshoi - well, perhaps they go for a different type of shoe, but they sounded like a herd of elephants compared with the Royal Ballet, who have their clunky moments, too.
