Silly, but fun. Tatler channels Agatha Christie via Brideshead. Footnote: The TV adaptation of Brideshead Revisited was the Downton Abbey of the 1980s.
Gosh ... that made me feel old! It needs to be explained?????

I know, Audrey! Another footnote has just explained Dallas fashions and the Ewings!

I loved Brideshead... I guess I'm really that old too!

THink it was probably my favourite series ever, Gina - except maybe The Forsyte Saga? Now that does date me, though I hasten to add that I was still at school!

Being a fossil myself, it's fun to see the look of bewilderment on the faces of our teen employees at the library. Imagine circulating cassette tape, VHS tapes...and record albums. Mind you, they're cool again. Oh the joys....mind you, 'my' Brideshead is the Emma Thompson and Ben Whishaw version. Am I missing something by not watching Jeremy Irons?

You are indeed. Darlene. Jeremy Irons/Anthony Andrews/Laurence Olivier/John Gielgud is the only Brideshead. The one that brought the nation to a standstill on Sunday nights. I'd forgotten that the other upstart version ever happened! I take it that Anglophilia hadn't yet hit you in 1981?
